How Internet Scams Make Money

Let’s define what an internet scam is. It is a worldwide defrauding scheme by greedy and dishonest people who gain the confidence of their victims to get their money.

Your inbox probably receives several internet scams every week. Hopefully, thanks to your spam folder you can just delete them, but not always.

Let me tell you how internet scams make money.

1. They will first send you an email telling you are entitled to receive some great amlunt of money for winning an electronic raffle done by their company. Or one rich dying man who wants to give his riches to a grandson but the grandson needs you to be the guarantor.

When you receive a mail like this the first time you will be surprised and that big money is making your mind dizzy with the possibility of really holding it with your bare hands and you know it is yours. Beware. This is the same feeling many people have when they were almost conned.

2. Then you will reply immediately claiming that you want the prize or the inheritance money. This is their cue to know that they should start gaining your confidence.

They will say words to actually convince you of claiming your prize or the money they want to give you. This is a stage where you must search the internet for the names and phone numbers they are giving you. See if that someone exists or if that company exists.

3. Their next mail will give you choices to further make up your mind to get your money. They will give you four choices:

A. You will go to their place and get the money.

B. You will pay about 20% of the amount through credit card for the said “clearing fee” and the money will be delivered to you personally by an agent.

C. You will go their place and pay the clearing fee and you get the money personally. Their place is always from another far off country so you will have to spend more and choose the second option.

D. You will pay for the clearing fee and the agent to deliver the money right at your door step.

4. As you can see, all the options add up to you paying them for the delivery of the money to you. If you are wise you will not fall for this scam. There is not a single assurance that your “prize or inheritance” will be given to you.

Think in legal terms. If someone is a stranger, and would like to give you some amount of money, they will consult an attorney perhaps to talk directly to you and not through email. Don’t even think of giving them your money when you have a hint that it’s a money making internet scam.
